The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a televised session at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Shawn Murphy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Mauril Bélanger, David Christopherson, Brian Fitzpatrick, Mark Holland, Jean-Yves Laforest, Mike Lake, Hon. Shawn Murphy, David Sweet and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Roger Gaudet for Marcel Lussier and Daniel Petit for John Williams.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst; Alex Smith, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Lyn Sachs, Assistant Auditor General.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2008-2009: Vote 15 under FINANCE, and Part III - Report on Plans and Priorities and Departmental Performance Report of the Office of the Auditor General of Canada referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 28, 2008.
 

Sheila Fraser made an opening statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

On motion of David Christopherson, it was agreed, — That the Treasury Board Secretariat provide the Standing Committee on Public Accounts with a copy of their review of Departments' implementation of recommendations from Auditor General's reports.

 

The Chair called Vote 15 under FINANCE - AUDITOR GENERAL.

 

Vote 15 under FINANCE - AUDITOR GENERAL carried.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Vote 15, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, under FINANCE - AUDITOR GENERAL to the House.

 

At 12:54 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
