The Standing Committee on Health met at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Lui Temelkovski, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patrick Brown, Patricia Davidson, Steven John Fletcher, Christiane Gagnon, Susan Kadis, Luc Malo, Lui Temelkovski, Hon. Robert Thibault and David Tilson.

 

Acting Members present: Chris Charlton for Judy Wasylycia-Leis, Hon. Hedy Fry for Hon. Carolyn Bennett and Colin Mayes for Joy Smith.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst; Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst. House of Commons: Isabelle Dumas, Procedural Clerk.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, the Committee proceeded to a briefing on Natural Health Products.
 

Philip Waddington, Ross Creber, Jean-Yves Dionne, Pierre Haddad, Darren Praznik, Geneviève Reed, Penelope Marrett, Ian Stewart, Trueman Tuck, Peter Helgason, James D'Astolfo and Branden Shepika made statements and, with Mark Priemer and Anne Wilkie, answered questions.

 

At 12:10 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:13 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee would hold one meeting on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, on the subject of harm reduction programs in Canada, with particular focus on the safe injection site in Vancouver.

 

At 1:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
