The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Paul Crête, Rick Dykstra, Jean-Yves Laforest, Ted Menzies, Rob Merrifield and Massimo Pacetti.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Michael D. Chong for Mike Wallace, David Christopherson for Thomas J. Mulcair, Hon. Mark Eyking for Hon. Garth Turner, Mervin Tweed for Dean Del Mastro and Borys Wrzesnewskyj for Hon. John McKay.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Laurin, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Financial Consumer Agency of Canada: Jim Callon, Deputy Commissioner; Ursula Menke, Commissioner. Conference Board of Canada: Glen Hodgson, Vice-President and Chief Economist. Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives: Marc Lee, Senior Economist.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted on February 11, 2008, the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the Independent Fiscal Forecasting.
 

Marc Lee made a statement and answered questions.

 

Glen Hodgson made a statement and, with Matthew Stewart answered questions.

 

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted on February 11, 2008, the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the Annual Report and Business Plan of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada.
 

Ursula Menke made a statement and, with Jim Callon, answered questions.

 

At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
