The Standing Committee on International Trade met by videoconference at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Lee Richardson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Guy André, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Ron Cannan, Serge Cardin, Sukh Dhaliwal, Peter Julian, John Maloney, Larry Miller, Lee Richardson and Lui Temelkovski.

 

Acting Members present: Ken Epp for Brian Pallister.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Peter Berg, Analyst; Michael Holden, Analyst; Elizabeth Kuruvila, Analyst. House of Commons: Erica Pereira, Committee Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association: Gerald Fedchun, President. Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association: Mark A. Nantais, President. Canadian Auto Workers Union: Jim Stanford, Chief Economist.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Ken Epp moved, — That the consideration and examination of any Bill (Government or Pivate Member's Bill) which is referred to the Standing Committee on International Trade take precedence over any study or non-legislative examination. In such circumstances the non-legislative study shall be deferred until such a time as the Bill is reported back to the House.

Debate arose thereon.

 

It was agreed, — That consideration of the motion be postponed until December 13th, 2007.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to the study of the Proposed Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement.

 

At 3:37 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:38 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 20, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of the Proposed Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
