The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met in a televised session at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Garry Breitkreuz, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Garry Breitkreuz, Gord Brown, Hon. Raymond Chan, Joe Comartin, Laurie Hawn, Mark Holland, Dave MacKenzie, Serge Ménard and Rick Norlock.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Carrier for Carole Freeman.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Robin MacKay, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Electricity Association: Francis Bradley, Vice-President, Corporate Resources; Jim Davis, Director, Corporate Security, Ontario Power Generation; Jean-Guy Ouimet, Senior Analyst, Threat and Risk Assessment, Industrial Security, Hydro-Québec; Chris Price, Director, Corporate Security, Hydro One Networks.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Friday, September 22, 2006, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-12, An Act to provide for emergency management and to amend and repeal certain Acts.
 

Francis Bradley made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 10:19 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:22 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee commence its clause-by-clause study of the Bill C-12 on November 21, 2006.

 

It was agreed, — That consideration of Bill C-286 commence after the November break.

 

At 10:58 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
