Meeting No. 9

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 11:07 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Lee Richardson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Catherine Bell, Serge Cardin, Hon. Roy Cullen, Richard Harris, Christian Ouellet, Christian Paradis, Lee Richardson, Alan Tonks and Bradley R. Trost.

Acting Members present: Anthony Rota for Lloyd St. Amand.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst.

Witnesses: Canadian Petroleum Products Institute: Alain Perez, President; Jack Belletrutti, Vice-President. Pembina Institute: Jesse Row, Director, Sustainable Communities Group; Matthew Bramley, Director, Climate Change. Canadian Renewable Fuels Association: Kory Teneycke, Executive Director.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Natural Resources Sectors in Canada - Alternative Energy: Renewable Fuels.

Alain Perez, Kory Teneycke and Jesse Row made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

It was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to the consideration of Committee business.

Catherine Bell moved, — That witnesses be given 10 minutes for their opening statement; that, at the discretion of the Chair, during the questioning of witnesses, there be allocated as follows:

Round 1 (7 minutes): Liberal Party, Bloc Québécois, New Democratic Party, Conservative Party

Round 2 (5 minutes): Liberal Party, Bloc Québécois, New Democratic Party, Conservative Party.

Debate arose thereon.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division: YEAS: Catherine Bell — 1; NAYS: Mike Allen, Serge Cardin, Richard Harris, Christian Ouellet, Christian Paradis, Alan Tonks, Bradley R. Trost — 7.

At 12:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
