The Standing Committee on Official Languages met in camera at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Guy Lauzon, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Raymonde Folco, Yvon Godin, Luc Harvey, Guy Lauzon, Pierre Lemieux, Luc Malo, Brian Murphy and Richard Nadeau.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Raymond Simard for Pablo Rodriguez.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 
The Committee resumed its study of the draft report on the Vitality of Official Language Minority Communities.
 

At 9:25 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:30 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

It was agreed,—That Part 1 of the report on the Vitality of Official Language Minority Communities (as amended) including the Introduction, Chapter 1 and the recommendations, be adopted as the Seventh Report of the Standing Committee on Official Languages.

 

It was agreed,—That the Clerk be authorized to make such editorial and typographical changes as necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

 

It was agreed,—That the Chair be authorized to table the Report in the House.

 

It was agreed,—That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government provide a comprehensive response to this Report.

 

It was agreed,—That, in the event of a discrepancy between the French and English versions, the French version shall prevail.

 

It was agreed,—That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(a), the Committee authorize the printing of the dissenting or supplementary opinions of the Conservative Party, the Bloc Québécois and the New Democratic Party as an appendix to this report immediately after the signature of the Chair; that the dissenting or supplementary opinions be limited to not more than 5 pages; (font = arial, regular, 12; line spacing = 1.5) and that the dissenting or supplementary opinions be delivered in electronic format in both official languages to the Clerk of the Committee not later than 10:00 a.m., Tuesday April 24th, 2007.

 

At 10:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
