The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patricia Davidson, Nicole Demers, Johanne Deschamps, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Anita Neville, Joy Smith and Bruce Stanton.

 

Acting Members present: Raymonde Folco for Yasmin Ratansi, John Maloney for Hon. Maria Minna and Scott Simms for Hon. Belinda Stronach.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Analyst; Nathalie Pothier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: DisAbled Women's Network of Canada: Bonnie L. Brayton, National Executive Director. As an individual: Béatrice Chabannel. DisAbled Women's Network of Canada: Carmela Hutchison, President. SPHERE-Québec (Soutien à la personne handicapée en route vers l'emploi au Québec): Nancy Moreau, Director General; Lyne Vincent, Project Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 30th, 2006, the Committee resumed its study of economic security of women.
 

Bonnie L. Brayton, Carmela Hutchison, Nancy Moreau and Lyne Vincent made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

Irene Mathyssen, Vice-Chair, took the Chair.

 

Béatrice Chabannel made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:19 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:19 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
