The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in a televised session at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Judy Sgro, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patricia Davidson, Johanne Deschamps, Helena Guergis, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Maria Minna, Maria Mourani, Hon. Anita Neville, Hon. Judy Sgro, Joy Smith and Bruce Stanton.

 

Acting Members present: Brian Jean for Nina Grewal, Susan Kadis for Hon. Belinda Stronach and Gary Merasty for Hon. Belinda Stronach.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst; Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Labour Congress: Barbara Byers, Executive Vice-President. Association féminine d'éducation et d'action sociale: Mariette Gilbert, President. Manitoba Association for Home Schooling: Gladys Hayward Williams, Past member. Sexual Assault Centre London: Louise Pitre, Executive Director. Regroupement provincial des maisons d'hébergement et de transition pour femmes victimes de violence conjugale: Louise Riendeau, Coordinator of Political Files. YWCA Canada: Paulette Senior, Chief Executive Officer. Collectif Féminisme et Démocratie: Jackie Steele, Spokesperson, Federal Representation. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 7, 2006, the Committee resumed its study of the Potential impact of recent funding and program changes at Status of Women Canada.
 

Mariette Gilbert, Jackie Steele, Louise Riendeau and Paulette Senior made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Barbara Byers, Gladys Hayward Williams, Doraine Wachniak and Louise Pitre made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
