The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Geoff Regan, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Bernard Bigras, Nathan Cullen, Luc Harvey, Marcel Lussier, David J. McGuinty, Hon. Geoff Regan, Anthony Rota, Francis Scarpaleggia, Maurice Vellacott and Mark Warawa.

 

Acting Members present: Catherine Bell for Nathan Cullen, Patricia Davidson for Bob Mills, Paul Dewar for Nathan Cullen and Hon. John Godfrey for Anthony Rota.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sam Banks, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

David J. McGuinty moved, — That with regard to a Committee study of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year 2006-2007, the Minister of the Environment be invited to appear.

Debate arose thereon.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

 

At 11:40 a.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and section 343 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 12:50 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in public.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Nathan Cullen moved, — That the Government of Canada bring forth an action plan addressing the recommendations made in the 2006 climate change report by the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development.

Debate arose thereon.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

 

At 1:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
