The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 11:12 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, Colin Mayes, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Hon. Larry Bagnell, Steven Blaney, Rod Bruinooge, Jean Crowder, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Marc Lemay, Yvon Lévesque, Colin Mayes, Hon. Anita Neville, Todd Norman Russell and Brian Storseth.

 

Acting Members present: Gary Merasty for Todd Norman Russell.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development : Michel Roy, Assistant Deputy Minister, Claims and Indian Government; Terry Sewell, Director General, Implementation Branch, Claims and Indian Government Sector.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the 2006 Report of the Cree-Naskapi Commission.
 

Michel Roy made an opening statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

At 12:13 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:19 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the analyst redraft the Summary of Recommendations for the Committee's study of Housing, by extracting the recommendations on social housing, and on alternate ownership models including the funding mechanisms required to facilitate such transitions.

 

At 12:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
