Meeting No. 54

Monday, November 28, 2005

The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 1:26 p.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Raymonde Folco, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Peter Adams, Hon. Eleni Bakopanos, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Raymonde Folco, Paul Forseth and Todd Norman Russell.

Acting Members present: Carole Lavallée for Christiane Gagnon, Pablo Rodriguez for Hon. Eleni Bakopanos and Robert Vincent for Yves Lessard.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 110 and 111, the Committee commenced consideration of the certificate of nomination of S. Len Hong to the position of President of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety which was referred to the Committee on Wednesday, November 23, 2005.

On motion of Jean-Claude D'Amours, it was agreed, — That the Committee waive further consideration of the nomination of S. Len Hung for appointment to President of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

The Chair presented the Second Report from the Subcommittee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities.

It was agreed, — That the annual report of the Subcommittee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities regarding the 2004 and 2005 Annual Report on the Administration of the Centennial Flame Research Award Act be adopted as the Eleventh Report of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.

That the Clerk be authorized to make such editorial and typographical changes as necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

That the Chair be authorised to table the Report in the House.

At 1:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
