The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in camera at 11:15 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Roger Gallaway, Yvon Godin, Dale Johnston, Judi Longfield, Lynn Myers, Marcel Proulx, Benoît Sauvageau, Diane St-Jacques and Chuck Strahl.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Andrew Telegdi for Carolyn Parrish and Yolande Thibeault for Hon. Elinor Caplan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal; Megan Furi, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(iii), the Committee resumed its review of the Standing Orders, procedure and practice of the House.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft letter to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister responsible for Democratic Reform concerning prior parliamentary review of Order-in-Council appointments.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair send the letter, as amended, on behalf of the Committee.

 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted as the Committee's Report to the House and that the Chair present the Report to the House.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, March 25, 2004, the Committee resumed consideration of the question of privilege relating to the disclosure of confidential proceedings of an Ontario Liberal caucus meeting.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted as the Committee's Report to the House and that the Chair present the Report to the House.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(iii), the Committee commenced consideration of matters related to the provisional Standing Order regarding petitions.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted as the Committee's Report to the House and that the Chair present the Report to the House.

 

At 12:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
