Wednesday, April 9, 2003
The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Odina Desrochers, John Finlay, Mac Harb, Gerald Keddy, Val Meredith, Shawn Murphy, Beth Phinney, Judy Wasylycia-Leis and John Williams.
Acting Members present: Diane Bourgeois for Roger Gaudet.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal and Jean Dupuis, Analysts.
Also in attendance: Boris Georgievich Preobrazhenskiy, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Commission on Interaction with the Accounting Chamber; Nikolay Ivanovich Malyshev, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Federation Council Commission on Interaction with the Accounting Chamber.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Hugh McRoberts, Assistant Auditor General; Shahid Minto, Assistant Auditor General; Maria Barrados, Assistant Auditor General.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee commenced consideration of the April 2003 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
Sheila Fraser made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
The Chair introduced members of a delegation from the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
Boris Preobrazhenskiy made a statement.
At 4:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
