The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, John Finlay, Roger Gaudet, Steve Mahoney, Philip Mayfield, Val Meredith, Beth Phinney, Tony Tirabassi and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Other Member present: John Bryden.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal and Jean Dupuis, Analysts.

Witnesses: From the Department of Health: Ian Potter, Assistant Deputy Minister, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch; Peter Cooney, Acting Director General, Non-Insured Health Benefits, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch; Sony Perron, Manager, Audit and Quality Assurance, Business Planning and Management Directorate, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch; Christine Dufour, Senior Policy Analyst, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee resumed consideration of the Non-Insured Health Benefits Program of Chapter 15 (Health Canada - First Nations Health) of the October 2000 Report of the Auditor General of Canada (See Committee Report No. 10 (37-1)).

Ian Potter made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
