The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met in a televised session at 12:23 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Walt Lastewka, Serge Marcil, Dan McTeague, James Rajotte, Brent St. Denis, Paddy Torsney and Joseph Volpe.

Acting Members present: Bob Mills for Cheryl Gallant, Bernard Bigras for Paul Crête and Joe Comartin for Brian Masse.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lalita Acharya and Dan Shaw, Research Officers.

Appearing: From the House of Commons: Hon. David A. Anderson, Minister of the Environment.

Witness: From the Department of the Environment: Norine Smith, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Communications.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of the Potential Economic Impact on Canadian Industry of Implementing the Kyoto Protocol.

The Hon. David Anderson, Minister of the Environment made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 1:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
