The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Judi Longfield, presiding.
Member(s) of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Libby Davies, Raymonde Folco, Tony Ianno, Judi Longfield, Gurbax Malhi, Raymond Simard, Monte Solberg, Diane St-Jacques and Alan Tonks.
Acting Member(s) present: Odina Desrochers for Suzanne Tremblay.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Research Officer.
Witness(es): From the Office of the Auditor General: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Peter Simeoni, Principal; Suzanne Therrien, Director. From the Department of Human Resources Development: Maryantonett Flumian, Associate Deputy Minister; John McWhinnie, Assistant Deputy Minister, Insurance; André Hurtubise, Director General, Investigation and Control.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), review of the Auditor General's Report on the Social Insurance Number.
Sheila Fraser and Maryantonett Flumian made a statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 12:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
