The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in video-conference at 10:48 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Judi Longfield, presiding.
Member(s) of the Committee present: Peter Goldring, Monique Guay, Judi Longfield, Gurbax Malhi and Raymond Simard.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin and Kevin Kerr, Research Officers.
Witness(es): From the Calgary Board of Education: Irene La Pierre, Principal, Piitoayis Family School. From the Chief Dan George Centre for Advanced Education (Simon Fraser University): Darrell Mounsey, Executive Director. From the Mi'kmaw Kina'matnewey: Murdena Marshall, Retired Associate Professor. From the Peterborough Native Learning Centre: Karen McClain, Instructor. From the St.Anne's School Coone, Newfoundland: Edwina Wetzel, Director of Education.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Literacy.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
