The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 9:20 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Jim Abbott, Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, Liza Frulla, Clifford Lincoln, James Lunney and Alex Shepherd.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Joseph Jackson and Sam Banks, research officers. Consultant: David Black. From the Embassy of the Russian Federation: Sergey Petrov, Counsellor and Maxim Mitrofanov, interpreter.
Witnesses: From the Committee on Culture and Tourism: Nikolay Sorokin, Deputy Chairman; Valery Kondratiev, Chief of staff. From the Committee on Nationalities: Valentin Nikitin, Chairman; Kaadyr-ool Bicheldey, Deputy Chairman; Sergey Budajapov, Deputy Chairman; Alexander Burulko, Member; Nagib Gimaev, Member; Vladimir Kazakovtsev, Member; Anatoly Nikitin, Member; Raushan Kanapianova, Chief of Staff. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee met with the Delegation of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (See Minutes of Proceedings dated February 11, 2003, Meeting No. 20).
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
At 10:30 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
