Meeting No. 44

Wednesday, May 28, 2003

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 5:43 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Andy Burton, Loyola Hearn, Carmen Provenzano, Jean-Yves Roy, Peter Stoffer, Tom Wappel, Bob Wood.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: François Côté and Alan Nixon, research officers.

Witnesses: From the Taku River Tlingit First Nation: John Ward, Spokesperson; Richard Erhardt, Fisheries Biologist; Peter Kirby, Capital Projects Manager and Economic Development Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced a study on fisheries management practices.

John Ward, Richard Erhardt and Peter Kirby made statements and answered questions.

At 6:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
