Meeting No. 14

Tuesday, February 11, 2003

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in a televised session at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: John Cummins, R. John Efford, Georges Farrah, Loyola Hearn, Bill Matthews, Joe Peschisolido, Carmen Provenzano, Jean-Yves Roy, Tom Wappel.

Acting Member present: Joe Comartin for Peter Stoffer.

Other Member present:  Paul Steckle

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: François Côté and Alan Nixon, research officers.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General: Johanne Gélinas, Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development; Neil Maxwell, Principal; John Reed, Principal; Andrew Ferguson, Director. From the International Joint Commission: The Rt Hon. Herb Gray, Chairman, Canadian Section; Dennis L. Schornack, Chairman, United States Section; Jack Blaney, Commissioner, Canadian Section; Irene Brooks, Commissioner, United States Section; Robert Gourd, Commissioner, Canadian Section; Allen Olson, Commissioner, United States Section.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed it study on invasive species.  (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, January 30, 2003, Meeting No. 11).

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 10:45 a.m., Carmen Provenzano took the Chair.

At 10:48 a.m., Tom Wappel took the Chair.

At 11:04 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
