The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D Centre Block, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Nick Discepola, Shawn Murphy, Pierre Paquette, Gary Pillitteri and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Acting Members present: Monte Solberg for Charlie Penson.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Blayne Haggart, Analyst ; Stephen Laurent, Analyst.

Witnesses: Canadian Library Association: Don Butcher, Executive Director. Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada: René Daoust, President; Mark Goldblatt, Senior Consultant. International Association of Fire Fighters: Jim Lee, Assistant to the General President for Canadian Operations. Canadian Library Association: Madeleine Lefebvre, President. Canadian Association of Research Libraries: Timothy Mark, Executive Director; Paul Wiens, University Librarian, Queen's University. Sport Matters Group: Victor Lachance, Director, Senior Leader; Timothy Page, Executive Director, Diving Plongeon Canada. Canadian Association of University Teachers: David Robinson, Associate Executive Director; James Turk, Executive Director.

Pursuant to Standing Order 83(1), the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations.

Panel I: Jim Lee, René Daoust, Mark Goldblatt and James Turk made a statement and, with David Anderson, answered questions.

At 4:43 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:47 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Panel II: Timothy Page, Victor Lachance, Paul Wiens and Madeleine Lefebvre made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
