The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Rick Casson, Nick Discepola, Rahim Jaffer, Sophia Leung, Hon. Maria Minna, Shawn Murphy, Pauline Picard.
Acting Member present: Jim Peterson for Sue Barnes.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Blayne Haggart, Analyst.
Appearing: From the House of Commons: Hon. Elinor Caplan, Minister of National Revenue.
Witnesses: From Canada Customs and Revenue Agency: François Guimont, Deputy Commissioner; Stephen Rigby, Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Commissioner, Finance and Administration Branch; Denis Lefebvre, Assistant Commissioner, Customs Branch.
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5) and the Order of Reference of Wednesday, February 26, 2003, Study of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2004 - VOTES 1, 5 and 10 under Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.
The Minister made a statement and with François Guimont, Stephen Rigby and Denis Lefebvre answered questions.
At 4:25 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.
At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
