The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Roy Cullen, Richard Harris, Sophia Leung, Pierre Paquette.

Acting Members present: The Hon. Lorne Nystrom for Judy Wasylycia-Leis; Carmen Provenzano for Bryon Wilfert; Messimo Pacetti for Gary Pillitteri.

In attendance From the Library of Parliament:  June Dewetering, Acting Principal Analyst; Marc-André Pigeon, Analyst.

Witness: As an Individual: Harold MacKay, Former Chair, Task Force on Future of the Financial Services Sector.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the public interest implications of large bank mergers.

Harold MacKay made a statement and answered questions.
