The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Scott Brison, Roy Cullen, Albina Guarnieri, Richard Harris, The Hon. Maria Minna, Shawn Murphy, The Hon. Lorne Nystrom, Gary Pillitteri, Bryon Wilfert.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Acting Principal Analyst; Blayne Haggart, Analyst.
Witnesses: From the RBC Financial Group: Gordon Nixon, President and Chief Executive Officer; Charles S. Coffey, Executive Vice-President, Government & Community Affairs; Anne Sutherland, Senior Vice-President, Client Segment Strategies. From the National Bank of Canada: Réal Raymond, President and Chief Executive Officer; Jean Houde, Senior Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, Member of the Executive Committee; Jean-Paul Caron, Vice-President, Corporate Affairs. From the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce: John Hunkin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the public interest implications of large bank mergers.
