The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 11:09 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Scott Brison, Rick Casson, Roy Cullen, Nick Discepola, Richard Harris, Shawn Murphy, The Hon. Lorne Nystrom, Bryon Wilfert.
Acting Member present: Paul Crête
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Blayne Haggart and Marc-André Pigeon, researchers.
Witnesses: From the Retail Council of Canada: Diane J. Brisebois, President and Chief Executive Officer. From the Consumers' Association of Canada: Dr. Robert Kerton, Chair, Economics and Finance Committee. From the "Option consommateurs": Louise Rozon, Director; Me Jacques St-Amant, Legal Counsel. From the Public Interest Advocacy Centre: Sue Lott, Counsel.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), study on the public interest implications of large bank mergers.
Diane Brisebois, Dr. Robert Kerton, Louise Rozon and Sue Lott made a statement and with Jacques St-Amant answered questions.
