The Standing Committee on Finance met at 9:01 a.m. this day, in Winnipeg at the Winnipeg Convention Centre in Pan Am Room, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Rick Casson, Roy Cullen, Shawn Murphy.

Acting Member present: Pat Martin for Lorne Nystrom.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Acting Principal. From the Committees Directorate: Jeffrey Leblanc, Committee Clerk.

Witnesses: From the North-South Institute: Roy Culpeper, President. From the Association of Community Living: Dale H. Kendel, Executive Director. From the Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada: Debra Mayer, Director, Manitoba Division. From the Congress of Union Retirees of Canada: Al Cerilli, President, Manitoba Federation of Union Retirees. From the Manitoba Child Care Association: Don Giesbrecht, President; Pat Wege, Executive Director. From the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society - Lifelinks: Verne McComas, Coordinator. Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee continued its pre-budget discussions.

Roy Culpeper, Dale H. Kendel, Debra Mayer, Al Cerilli, Don Giesbrecht, Pat Wege, Verne McComas made opening statements and answered questions.

At 9:51 a.m., Roy Cullen took the Chair.

At 10:00 a.m., Sue Barnes took the Chair.

At 10:35 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:42 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Stu Briese, Garry Loewen, Geoffrey Elliott, James M. Clark, Kenneth Clark made opening statements and answered questions.

At 11:00 a.m., Roy Cullen took the Chair.

At 11:30 a.m., Shawn Murphy took the Chair.

At 11:34 a.m., Roy Cullen took the Chair.

At 12:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
