The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 8:05 a.m. this day, in Vancouver at the Delta Pinnacle Hotel in Pinnacle III Ballroom, the Chair, Joe Fontana, presiding.

Members of the Committee present:  Libby Davies, Joe Fontana, David Price, Lynne Yelich.

Acting Member present:  Louis Plamondon for Antoine Dubé.

Other Members present:  Sophia Leung, Andrew Telegdi.

Panel I

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Friday, November 8, 2002, the Committee resumed debate on Clause 2, consideration of Bill C-18, An Act respecting Canadian citizenship (see Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 21, 2002, Meeting No. 6).

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on a National Identity Card (see Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, February 6, 2003, Meeting No. 17).

The witnesses commented on a National Identity Card.

At 10:10 a.m. the sitting was suspended.

At 10:22 the sitting resumed.
