The Legislative Committee on Bill C-17 met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Bob Kilger, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Sarkis Assadourian, John Bryden, Bev Desjarlais, Marlene Jennings, Bob Kilger, Mario Laframboise, Gary Lunn, Steve Mahoney, John O'Reilly, Beth Phinney, Marcel Proulx.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: David R. Goetz, Margaret Young, Analysts.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada: George Radwanski, Privacy Commissioner of Canada. From the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada: John M. Reid, Information Commissioner of Canada; J. Alan Leadbeater, Deputy Information Commissioner of Canada; Daniel Brunet, General Counsel. From the Canadian Labour Congress: Hassan Yussuff, Secretary-Treasurer; Trish Blackstaffe, Executive Assistant to the President.
The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-17, Public Safety Act 2002.
George Radwanski made a statement and answered questions.
At 9:59 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

John M. Reid and Hassan Yussuff made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
