The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met in a televised session at 10:09 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Paul Steckle, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Howard Hilstrom, Louis Plamondon, Dick Proctor, Paul Steckle, Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Member present: Gerry Ritz for David L. Anderson.
Other Member present: Peter Adams
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, researcher.
Witnesses: From the Retail Ready Inc.: John Ferraro, President. From the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union: Paul Meinema, President, Local 1400 (Saskatchewan). From the Guillemette Maurice Inc.: Pierre Guillemette, Co-owner; André Toutant, Executive Director. From the Canada Beef Export Federation: Ted Haney, President. From the Canadian Meat Council: Robert Weaver, General Manager. From the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors: Nick Jennery, President and Chief Executive Officer; Kim McKinnon, Vice-President; Paul Fortin, Vice-President, A & P Canada Ltd.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee held a Special Briefing on the BSE Disease Investigation.
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
