The Sub-Committee on National Security of the Standing Committee of Justice and Human Rights met in a televised session at 3:37 p.m., this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Derek Lee, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Bill Blaikie, Marlene Jennings, Derek Lee, Peter MacKay, David Pratt, Geoff Regan, Kevin Sorenson.
Acting Member present: Michel Bellehumeur for Pierrette Venne.
Other Member present: Steve Mahoney.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.
Appearing: The Hon. John Manley, P.C., M.P., Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and Minister of Infrastructure and Crown Corporations.
Witness: From the Privy Council Office: Richard Fadden, Deputy Clerk, Counsel and Security and Intelligence Co-ordinator.
Pursuant to a motion of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights adopted on Tuesday, October 16, 2001, the Committee resumed consideration of current National Security enhancements.
The Hon. John Manley made a statement and with the witness answered questions.
At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
