Wednesday, April 10, 2002
The Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:23 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.
Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: John Godfrey, Monique Guay, Larry Spencer, and Alan Tonks.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Research Officer.
Witness(es): From the Adoption Council of Canada: Elspeth Ross, Board Member and Secretary. From the National Youth in Care Network: Matthew Geigen-Miller, Director of Education and Communication. From the Child Welfare League of Canada: Peter Dudding, Executive Director and Co-Director Center of Excellence on Child Welfare.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and its Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, the Sub-Committee resumed its study on the status of aboriginal children living on and off reserves and on federal programs available to them (See Minutes of Proceedings of March 01, 2001 – Meeting No.06).
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
At 5:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
