MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Meeting No. 1
Thursday, February 22, 2001
The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 9:02 a.m., this day, in Room 306, West Block, for the purpose of electing a Chair and two Vice-Chairs, pursuant to Standing Orders 106(1) and (2).
Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, Roy Bailey, Peter Goldring, Art Hanger, Judi Longfield, John O'Reilly, Louis Plamondon, David Pratt, David Price, Carmen Provenzano, Geoff Regan, Bryon Wilfert, Bob Wood.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Researcher Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Orders 106(1) and (2), election of a Chair and Vice-Chairs.
The Clerk presided over the election of the Chair.
Bob Wood moved, - That David Pratt do take the Chair of the Committee as Chairman.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed to.
Accordingly, David Pratt was declared duly elected Chair of the Committee and invited to take the Chair.
The Committee proceeded to elect the Vice-Chairs.
John O'Reilly moved, - That David Price be elected Vice-Chair.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed to.
Mr. Price was declared Vice-Chair, Government side.
Roy Bailey moved, - That Peter Goldring be elected Vice-Chair.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed to.
Peter Goldring was declared Vice-Chair, Opposition side.
At 9:07 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
