Meeting No. 81

Wednesday, May 8, 2002

The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Brian Fitzpatrick, Walt Lastewka, Serge Marcil, Dan McTeague and James Rajotte.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Lalita Acharya and James McQueen,Research Officers.

Appearing: The Hon. Stephen Owen, Secretary of State (Western Economic Diversification).

Witness: From Western Economic Diversification Canada: Oryssia J. Lennie, Deputy Minister.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated February 28, 2002, the Committee resumed consideration of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2003, Votes 120 and 125 under INDUSTRY (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, May 7, 2002, Meeting No. 80).

The Hon. Stephen Owen made an opening statement and, with Oryssia Lennie, answered questions.

At 5:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
