Tuesday, June 11, 2002

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:12 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Vice-chair, Bernard Patry, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Aileen Carroll, Stockwell Day, John Duncan, Mark Eyking, Marlene Jennings, The Hon. Diane Marleau, Pierre Paquette, Bernard Patry.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee, Gerald Schmitz, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Chamber of Commerce: Robert Keyes, Vice-President, International Division; Alexander Lofthouse, Policy Analyst. From the "Institut national de la recherche scientifique": Mario Polèse, Senior Adjunct Professor, Urbanisation.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on North American Integration and Canada's Role in the Light of New Security Challenges (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, October 2, 2001).

Robert Keyes made a statement and with Alex Lofthouse answered questions.

At 10:21 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:46 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Mario Polèse made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:28 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
