The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:07 a.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Bill Casey, Bill Graham, Francine Lalonde, Gary Lunn, Diane Marleau, Keith Martin, Pat O'Brien, Deepak Obhrai, Pierre Paquette, Denis Paradis, Bernard Patry, Svend Robinson.

Associate Member present: Mac Harb.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Lee; John M. Wright.

Witness(es): From the " Réseau québécois sur l'intégration continentale (RQIC) ": Dorval Brunelle, Professor, Sociology, " Université du Québec à Montréal " and Member of the " Groupe de recherche sur l'intégration continentale de l'UQAM ". From the Carleton University: Michael Hart, Norman Patterson School of International Affairs. From the FOCAL: Donald MacKay, Special Advisor; Nobina Robinson, Executive Director. From the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers: David MacInnis, Vice-President, Public Affairs.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Summit of the Americas and the FTAA.

On motion of Gary Lunn - That the draft letters prepared by the Sub-Committee on International trade, Trade Disputes and Investment on the question of Softwood Lumber be approved and that the Chair be authorized to make such typographical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the letters

The witnesses each made statements and answered questions.

At 11:49 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
