The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:07 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Bill Casey, Bill Graham, John Harvard, Stan Keyes, Francine Lalonde, Gary Lunn, Diane Marleau, Keith Martin, Pat O'Brien, Deepak Obhrai, Pierre Paquette, Denis Paradis, Bernard Patry.

Acting Members present: Yvon Charbonneau for Colleen Beaumier; Rick Casson for Deepak Obhrai.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Lee; John M. Wright; Blayne Haggart.

Witness(es): From the «Symposium hémisphérique sur le commerce et l'environnement»: Pierre Marc Johnson, Director. From the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters: Jason Myers, Chief Economist. From the Council of Canadians: Peter Julian, Executive Director. From the Transparency International Canada: P.K. Pal, Director.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Summit of the Americas and the FTAA

The witnesses each made statements and answered questions.

It was agreed - That the Committee would hear further witnesses on April 3rd and April 5th and would consider presenting a report in the House of Commons at a time following the Summit of the Americas.

At 11:12 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
