Meeting No. 43

Tuesday, November 20, 2001

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: John Duncan, Bill Graham, Marlene Jennings, Diane Marleau, Pat O'Brien, Pierre Paquette, Bernard Patry.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee, Gerald Schmitz, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: James R. Wright, Assistant Deputy Minister, Global and Security Policy. From the Department of National Defence: MGen. H. Cameron Ross, Director General, International Security Policy.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of North American Integration and Canada's Role in the Light of New Security Challenges. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Tuesday, October 16, 2001, Meeting no. 31).

The witnesses each made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:33 p.m., Diane Marleau took the Chair.

At 4:42 p.m., Bill Graham took the Chair.

At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
