Meeting No. 4

Tuesday, March 20, 2001

 

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in a televised session at 9:07 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jean Augustine, Bill Casey, Bill Graham, John Harvard, Stan Keyes, Francine Lalonde, Gary Lunn, Diane Marleau, Deepak Obhrai, Pierre Paquette, Bernard Patry, Svend Robinson.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Lee; Blayne Haggart.

Witnesses: From the Centre for Trade Policy and Law: Bill Dymond, Executive Director. From the Canadian Council of the Americas: John Wilson, Consultant, Government Relations, GE Canada. From the International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development: The Honourable Warren Allmand, President; Diana Bronson, Coordinator, Program on Globalisation and Human Rights.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Summit of the Americas

The witnesses each made statements and answered questions.

It was agreed - That the Committee hold additional meetings to those already planned on the Summit of the Americas and the FTAA to allow additional witnesses to appear.

At 10:58 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
