The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:13 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Colleen Beaumier, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Bill Casey, John Harvard, Stan Keyes, Francine Lalonde, Diane Marleau, Keith Martin, Pierre Paquette, Denis Paradis, Bernard Patry, Svend Robinson, Monte Solberg.

Acting Member present: Antoine Dubé for Francine Lalonde.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Lee.

Appearing: From the Republic of Albania: The Hon. Paskal Milo, Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Petrit Bushati, Ambassador; Eduart Sulo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Elton Talka, Desk Officer for Canada, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Marc Lortie, Senior Coordinator for Federal Provincial Relations, Personal Representative of the Prime Minister for the Summit of the Americas; Claude Carrière, Director General, Trade Policy Bureau I, Chief Negotiator, Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA).

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), visit from the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Albania.

The Honourable Paskal Milo made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:01 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:07 a.m., the sitting resumed.
