Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Szabo (Mississauga South), seconded by Mr. Finlay (Oxford), Bill C-246, An Act respecting the provision of compensation to public safety officers who lost their lives while on duty, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Ms. Guarnieri (Mississauga East), seconded by Mr. McTeague (Pickering -- Ajax -- Uxbridge), Bill C-247, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Corrections and Conditional Release Act (cumulative sentences), was introduced, read the first time and ordered to be printed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 86.1, the Bill (previously Bill C-251, 1st Session, 36th Parliament) was deemed to have been read the second time and referred to a committee, reported with amendments, concurred in at report stage with further amendments and read the third time and passed.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs of Bill C-2, An Act respecting the election of members to the House of Commons, repealing other Acts relating to elections and making consequential amendments to other Acts.

Pursuant to Standing Order 73(1), Mr. Boudria (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons), seconded by Mr. Mitchell (Secretary of State (Rural Development)(Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario)), moved, -- That the Bill be referred forthwith to the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs.

Debate arose thereon.

QUORUM

The attention of the Speaker was drawn to the lack of a quorum and, fewer than 20 members having been counted, pursuant to Standing Order 29(3), the bells were rung to call in the Members.

After one minute, a quorum was found.
