Tuesday, December 14, 1999
The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Chair, Joseph Volpe, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Réginald Bélair, Serge Cardin, David Chatters, Yvon Godin, Julian Reed, Werner Schmidt, Guy St-Julien, Brent St. Denis and Joseph Volpe.
Acting Member present: Ghislain Fournier for Ghislain Lebel.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Jack Stilborn and Grant Purvis; Research Officers.
Witness: From the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada: David Comba, Director.
Pursuant to the Committee's mandate under Standing Order 108(2), a study of the Mining Industry in Canada.
David Comba made a statement and answered questions.
At 4:50 p.m., the sitting continued in camera.
The Committee considered future business.
It was agreed, - That the Committee resume its study of "Canada's Forest Management Practices as an International Trade Issue"; study issues related to the mining sector; follow-up on climate change issues and prepare for an examination of Canadian policy on water exports.
At 5:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
