MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 39

Wednesday, June 14, 2000

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met in camera at 4:15 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Joseph Volpe, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Réginald Bélair, Serge Cardin, John Duncan, Yvon Godin, Carmen Provenzano, Julian Reed, Guy St-Julien, Brent St. Denis and Joseph Volpe.

Acting Member present: Robert Wood for Carolyn Parrish.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages and Tim Williams, Research Officers.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on Canadian Forest Management Practices as an International Trade Issue.

The Committee resumed consideration of its draft report.

At 5:37 p.m. the Committee suspended proceedings.

At 6:35 p.m., the Committee resumed proceedings.

At 7:00 p.m., the Committee suspended proceedings.

At 7:15 p.m., the Committee resumed proceedings.

It was agreed, - That the draft Report as amended be adopted as the Committee's Fourth Report to the House and that the Chair be instructed to present it to the House.

It was agreed, - That the Chair be instructed to table the Fourth Report with the Clerk of the House while the House stands adjourned.

It was agreed, - That the title of the Report be "Forest management practices in Canada as an international trade issue (final report)".

It was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to make such typographical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

It was agreed, - That the Committee print 550 copies of its Fourth Report in tumble bilingual format with a distinctive cover and colour highlights.

It was agreed, - That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the Report.

At 9:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
