Meeting No. 14

Thursday, March 2, 2000

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 11:09 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Joseph Volpe, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Réginald Bélair, Serge Cardin, John Duncan, Carmen Provenzano, Julian Reed, Brent St. Denis and Joseph Volpe.

Acting Members present: René Canuel for Ghislain Lebel; Gerald Keddy for Gilles Bernier.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association: Fiona Cook, Vice-President, International Trade and Government Relations; Joel Neuheimer, Director, International Affairs and Tony Rotherham, Director, Forests.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study of Canadian Forest Management Practices as an International Trade Issue.

Fiona Cook and Tony Rotherham made a statement and with the other witness, answered questions.

At 12:15 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:17 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee considered issues on its future business.

At 12:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
