Meeting No. 10

Tuesday, November 30, 1999

The Standing Committee on Industry met at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Pierre Brien, John Cannis, Marlene Jennings, Jim Jones, Walt Lastewka, Gurbax Malhi, Ian Murray, Charlie Penson, Nelson Riis and Susan Whelan.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Branch of the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Chamber of Commerce: Michael Murphy, Senior Vice-President, Policy; Peter Tzanetakis, Director, Policy. From WEFA Canada Inc.: Dale Orr, Economist. As Individual: David Slater, Former Chairman of the Economic Council of Canada.

Pursuant to the Committee's mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study concerning Productivity, Innovation and Competitiveness (see Minutes of Proceedings and the Evidence of Tuesday, November 2, 1999, Meeting No. 2).

The witnesses each made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 11:04 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
