Meeting No. 28

Tuesday, May 16, 2000

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, Rick Limoges, Clifford Lincoln, Inky Mark, Mark Muise, Alex Shepherd and Bryon Wilfert.

Acting Members present: Rick Laliberté for Wendy Lill; Suzanne Tremblay for Pierre de Savoye; Ghislain Fournier for Caroline St-Hilaire.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Joseph Jackson, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the "Comité des citoyens de Havre-Saint-Pierre et Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan": Yves Thériault; Real Jomphe. From the "Association chasses et pêche": Denis Boudreau; Pierre Parisé. From the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association: Kevin Psutka, President and CEO.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Thursday, May 11, 2000, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-27, An Act respecting the national parks of Canada (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, May 11, 2000 , Meeting No. 25).

Yves Thériault made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 4:09 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:46 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Kevin Psutka made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 5:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
