Thursday, December 2, 1999

The Standing Committee on Finance met at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Roger Gallaway, Yvan Loubier, The Hon. Lorne Nystrom, Gary Pillitteri, Karen Redman, Monte Solberg and Paul Szabo.

Associate Member present: Carolyn Bennett.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse: Michel Perron, Executive Director; Jacques Lecavalier, Associate. From the Canadian Automatic Merchandising Association: Dan Stewart, President; Jean-François Marchand, Member; Don Braden, Manager, Public Affairs. From the Canadian Professional Sales Association: Terry Ruffel, President. From the Income Protection Working Group: Sarah Shartal, Coordinator. From the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System: Susan O'Gorman, Chair; Michael Beswick, Senior Vice-President, Pensions.

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultations. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, November 2, 1999, Meeting No. 2).

Michel Perron, Dan Stewart, Jean-François Marchand, Terry Ruffel, Sarah Shartal and Susan O’Gorman made statements and, with the other participants in the roundtable, answered questions.

At 10:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
