QUATRIÈME RAPPORT

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), your Committee has considered the issue of human rights in Burma and has agreed to report the following:

Conformément au mandat que lui confère le paragraphe 108(2) du Règlement, votre Comité a examiné la question des droits de la personne en Birmanie et a convenu de rapporter ce qui suit  :

It was agreed, -- That the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade urge the Parliament of Canada to recognize the Committee representing the People's Parliament as the representatives of the people of Burma; and further urge the Government of Canada to consider the imposition of investment sanctions on the regime in Burma.

Il est convenu, -- Que le Comité permanent des affaires étrangères et du commerce international exhorte le Parlement du Canada à reconnaître le Comité représentant le Parlement du peuple comme les représentants du peuple de la Birmanie; et qu'il exhorte également le gouvernement du Canada à considérer l'imposition de sanctions relatives aux investissements au régime en place en Birmanie.

A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings (Meetings Nos. 17, 18 and 34) is tabled.
