The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in a televised session at 9:35 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Jean Augustine, Bill Graham, Gurmant Grewal, Francine Lalonde, Diane Marleau, Deepak Obhrai, Denis Paradis, Bernard Patry.

Acting Members present: Pauline Picard for Maud Debien; Stéphan Tremblay for Yves Rocheleau.

Associate Member present: Lorne Nystrom.

From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gerald Schmitz and James Lee, Research Officers.

Appearing: From the Department of Finance: Paul Martin, Minister of Finance.

Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: Lt-Gen Raymond R. Henault, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff; RAdm. M. Bruce MacLean, Director General, International Security Policy.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to examine the G-20 issue.

Hon. Paul Martin made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 10:51 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:05 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its examination of the conflict and post-conflict periods in Kosovo.

Lt-Gen Raymond R. Henault, with RAdm. M. Bruce MacLean, answered questions.

At 11:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
