The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:46 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, Gurmant Grewal, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Francine Lalonde, Denis Paradis, Bernard Patry, Yves Rocheleau.
Acting Members present: Gurmant Grewal for Darrel Stinson.
From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gerald Schmitz and James Lee, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From Amnesty International (Canada): Alex Neve, Secretary General. From the Canadian Human Rights Foundation: Ria Holcak, Director, Central and Eastern Europe.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee continued its examination of Canada's foreign policy interests in South Caucasus and Central Asia (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, April 4, 2000, Meeting No. 35.)
Alex Neve and Ria Holcak each made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 10:40 a.m., Bill Graham took the Chair.
At 11:21 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
